Facts about Successful Yoga Teachers, Part 3

Posted by admin in Yoga Therapy

Do successful Yoga teachers produce more successful teachers? The short answer is, Yes, they do. Tirumalai Krishnamacharya produced many good Yoga teachers, but how many of us could match his accomplishments? Among his many Yoga students are four Master Yoga teachers: Pattabhi Jois, B.K.S. Iyengar, Indra Devi, and T.K.V. Desikachar.

Therefore, most of the Hatha Yoga sub-styles of today have been affected by Tirumalai Krishnamacharya. His legacy has cast a long shadow, and his accomplishments may never be matched. To some, this is success and to others, success is simply helping people with health and well being.

While others, might consider Bikram Choudhury, to be the most successful Yoga teacher of our time. It is said that his style produces, in the neighborhood of, 900 Yoga teachers per year. Not bad, considering he had a serious knee injury as a teen and made quite a come back. He aggressively markets his style of Yoga, has patented his asana sequence, has been in the American lime light, and lives a very wealthy life.

So, this is a very different form of success. In his own right, Bikram Choudhury is one of the most successful Yoga teachers of this time, and he has produced many more successful Yoga teachers. Success means many things to many people, and we each have a different viewpoint of the meaning of success. Success can be easily classified into physical, mental, spiritual, and material categories.

What about Yoga teachers who demonstrate technical prowess? Yes, a Yoga teacher who understands alignment should be successful. Unfortunately, perfect alignment is not abundant. The human body has many imperfections, and this can be a struggle if a Yoga teacher becomes a perfectionist.

This can sometimes affect the ego of a Yoga teacher for the worst. The teaching style should still be compassionate - when assisting or demonstrating Yoga techniques. When an instructor of Yoga becomes arrogant and self-absorbed, he or she will start to lose students, among many other things.

Is success measured by how many Yoga students you have? To put it simply: No. Many successful Yoga teachers have small schools, but their agenda is not materially based. They enjoy helping others and improving the lives of their Yoga students. This is definitely success and gratification.

However, if you want to earn a living - have financial obligations, or just want to be comfortable, your life will be much easier, when you have more Yoga students.

BBQ Tips, Tricks, and Techniques

Posted by admin in Cooking Guide

Brisket Tips

Cook your brisket under your butt for better flavor

Marinade overnight in Moores marinade.

Keep the cooking temp constant at 235.

Allow up to 2 hours per pound to cook.

No two briskets are alike in the way they cook.

Adding beef flavoring is good, you want the result to taste like prime rib.

Use only the flat for your slices.

Lay the pieces in the box shingle style, exposing the smoke ring.

Cook the point and flat separately

Use the point for your chopped portions, it has more fat and is move flavorful.

Cut your slices inch thick

If the texture is too chewy when sliced, cut it thinner than inch thick

If the texture is too dry, or crumbly, cut the slices thicker.

Do not let the sauce pool in the bottom of the turn in box.

Use a silicone basting brush to apply the sauce.

Be sure all slices are completely cut from one another, you can be disqualified if not.

Put a minimum of 7 slices and some chopped brisket in the box.

Use only KCBS approved garnish.

Do not mark the box, break the clasp or damage it in any way.

When applying the rub, lay it on there, the more the better.

If injecting, do it often and evenly to equally distribute the marinade and prevent areas of discoloring.

Cook fat side down, period!

Buy packer cut briskets and trim them yourself.

Buy briskets 12 lbs and under, the slices will fit better in your turn in box.

Pork Tips

Keep the cooking temp constant at 235.

Cook the butt over the brisket to add flavor to the brisket

When injecting an 8 lb butt, use one cup of the injection recipe, piercing the pork in about 30 places.

Pull the butt off at 200 degrees and wrap it in foil, then a towel and place it in an empty cooler.

Trim the excess surface fat, there will no bark where the rub is attached to fat.

Use a LOT of mustard in your slather, work it in.

Use both pulled pieces and bark in your turn in box.

Watch for pooling of your sauce in the bottom of the turn in box, the judges will.

Fill your box up; be sure you have plenty for all the judges

Use bone in butts.

Cook no more than 6 lb butts, too big will take longer.

Chicken Tips

Use scissors to trim your pieces, expect to lose up to 50% of the meat when trimming.

Use thighs only.

Make them small, you want at least 7 in the box.

Get the rub under the skin.

Be sure the skin is crisp and does not pull off all at once when bitten into. If so, put it skin side down over high heat to crisp it up.

Marinate in Italian salad dressing overnight

Cook at 235 indirect.

Cook at least 18 so you have several to choose from for your entry.

Chicken can absorb a lot of smoke, do not overdo it.

At 180 degrees, pull the chicken off right away.

Rib Tips

Do not open the cooker for the first two hours.

Cook bone side down at all times unless foiled.

You MUST maintain 135 degrees for the entire cook

When trimming them, try to get an even cut, you want a rectangle of ribs to slice through

Use an electric knife for slicing the ribs.

Be careful handling the ribs, do not disturb the rub.

Apply the sauce with a silicone brush, do not let it pool in the bottom of your turn in box.

Cook at least three slabs, that way you will have more to choose from.

Red is good brown is bad, do not burn your sauce.

The rib meat must cleanly pull away from the bone, not all of the meat at one time or have to fight it off with your teeth.

Mix the juices from the foil with the sauce before basting the ribs.

Stand the ribs on end when slicing; it is easier to avoid getting into the bone.

To Keep Or Not To Keep

Posted by admin in Move House

Ask any mover and he will tell you that, these days moving is the easiest job on the planet. Well, they have a job well done, as long as they have convinced you that moving is nothing more than tic-tac-toe. Huh, as if!!

If I may put it this way; moving is more like dismantling-transporting-and rebuilding rather than packing-hauling-and unpacking. When you stay in a house for a long time, you build it in to a homeputting pieces of furniture, carpet, etc one by one so that they fit your house. A relocation proposal suddenly makes all those efforts futile.

Apart from the sentimental trauma part; when you actually get down to moving youll find that its not only a pain in your leg, but also expensive at the same time. Royal combination, as it is; you have to plan your move in such a way that you take only the stuff that you want and dispose the rest. You should think of every possible manner of reducing the cost of your move. As every item counts you have to carefully select the goods you have to move and dispose all the unwanted ones. Disposing unwanted goods will fetch you some amount that can be used as moving budget.

You can dispose your unwanted goods by arranging garage sales, by advertising online, by selling them to stores that deal with buying and selling of second hand goods, by donating them to charity, by exchanging them with that of others, and by sending them to recycling, etc.

Garage sale is an easy means of selling your unwanted furniture by putting on a display in a place where people can come, see and buy. Placing an advertisement in a local newspaper and arranging the sale on a weekend will attract more visitors. Online sale is another means of disposing your unwanted goods. Almost all unwanted goods can be sold online these days. Placing an online advertisement listing the items you are planning to dispose will draw the attention of many. You can get a good market price by selling your items to stores that deal with buying and selling of second hand goods. They too will buy and sell almost all household goods.

So, that was about how and whereobviously, you have to decide the what. There may be several items in your household that you do not use, but youre attached to them all the same. Like, say, your old Harley that you used to drive when you were 25. You may contemplate renting a self storage unit for these special value items.

Also, if youre not the type of person who want to scrounge for every penny you can think of donating your old books to public library, schools run by charity organizations or to the reading rooms. You can donate unwanted rugs, clothes etc. to charity organizations such as churches, local communities, volunteer organizations and religious institutions.

Personal Brand: Effective Signature Taglines Capture Attention

Posted by admin in Brand Marketing

That little tag line under your signature has a distinct purpose, and you can use it to your advantage. Whether you’re signing an email, a letter, or a blog post, your signature tagline should be brand specific. It should tell your reader who you are, what you do, and why you’re an expert.

After many years of education, those who have earned them often settle for tagging on PhD. after their name to alert their adoring public that they know what they’re talking about. Years of experience give you the same kind of knowledge, experience, and expertise, and you have good cause to announce that to the world. But PhD. is taken. So what’s a poor body to do?

Taglines can be more effective than a PhD. because they actually give information about you. For instance: If you’re an Executive Secretary and you sign your name at the end of every letter:

Judith Aames, Ex. Secretary

AM Phelps Corporation

Everyone knows you work for AM Phelps Corporation, and your title is Executive Secretary. So, the person to contact if they want to get something done is Judith Aames.

If her signature includes a footer at the bottom of all printed copy that further states “AM Phelps Corporation the “eye” of I-Beam Construction and Technology” you’re going to know that AM Phelps is in the Steel Construction industry, and probably a designer. If you’re looking for the best designer in the industry, you’ll know to give Ms Judi a call.

The solution for Personal Brand Identification is an Effective Signature Tagline that captures the attention of your reader.

Dedicated Web Hosting Explained

Posted by admin in Best Web Hosting

Why is dedicated hosting such a big hit on the business web hosting market? If you look at the costs it involves, usually ranging from $150 - $1000 per month, another question comes into your mind: Does it even worth it?

Why is dedicated hosting such a big hit on the business web hosting market? If you look at the costs it involves, usually ranging from $150 - $1000 per month, another question comes into your mind: Does it even worth it?

When you have one single web server is rented to a single customer by the web hosting provider, you have dedicated web hosting. There are two similar solutions quite common too in the web hosting industry: virtual dedicated servers and co-location web hosting.

To make it easier to grasp the concepts, a virtual dedicated server shares the resources of a web server computer with other customers of the web hosting provider. You dont get an entire computer just for you in virtual dedicated server hosting plans.

Co-locating web hosting also shares some similarities with dedicated web hosting. The main difference is that while in dedicated web hosting the web server computer belongs to the web-hosting provider and is only rented by the customer, in co-locating web hosting the customer owns the web server computer. The web-hosting provider only houses the web server computer and sells bandwidth to the customer.

Real dedicated web hosting a single web server is rented to a single customer.

Dedicated web hosting is the ideal solution for businesses that work with high traffic. The functionalities of your web site as well as the application required for its operation will fall under your precise control.

But with dedicated web hosting there are even more advantages.

Your hosting provider handles all concerns regarding the maintenance, the security, and the reliability of your web server. As your rent the computer, not purchasing it you dont have to bother yourself with maintaining the hardware and the connectivity of the computer. This frees you from replacing the component or solving the problem, as all these fall into the providers responsibility. Many web hosting providers will even offer you compensations as part of the Service Level Agreement (SLA). Usually, in the event of such failure you will be reimbursed with the cost of your hosting plan for a month or a fraction of it, depending of the severity of the failure. Looks quite good compared to having to pay for the component and for the technical support required for actually replacing the component, all this while your web site in not online. At the end of the day you will only pay for functional hardware.

Think what your business could do with all the resources you have just saved on the above maintenance issues.

As the costs of administering and maintaining the web server you have rented vary depending on your web hosting provider, you can choose between managed or unmanaged service levels.

Should you feel uncomfortable with the technical expertise required by the management of a web server computer, you could opt for managed dedicated hosting. This means that you will have available a control panel. The control panel allows you to perform all the essential tasks required by the proper functioning of your web server via a simply point-and-click user-friendly interface. This way you wont need to know or type any command lines, or poses no in depth knowledge of the operating system, while still being able to setup, administer and maintain all the web sites on your web server.

The unmanaged option is recommended only for those with great degree of technical expertise in mastering a web server as it provides root access to the server. This in turn, offers complete server administration, thus the possibility to configure every service on your web server. Of course, not having the necessary services are configured properly, may result in serious system failure. These are the reasons that make unmanaged dedicated hosting only recommendable for people with solid server administration background or for web developers that need custom applications for their web sites, or a customized environment.

Having a dedicated server means that the stability of the computer will not be prone to the plagues affecting shared web hosting solutions. Just think at overload, server being crowded with applications and components required by the other customers, or even errors in programming usually made by the beginners. Add to that the fact that on a shared web server the processor time and the installed memory is shared with the software applications needed by the other users.

Managed or unmanaged, dedicated web hosting makes it easier for you to provide instant support to your own customers when it is required. This would not be possible on a shared hosting plan or you will be faced with delays and possible additional technical support fees. Needless to say a prompt support service on your side also means happy customers and business growth.

For those running a business in web design for example, the advantages of having their own dedicated web server are invaluable. This is true not because his studio will be able to offer pure hosting services, but because he will able to offer them packaged with the web design activity. Modifying a web site for a customer or uploading a new one is a matter of minutes when you have around-the-clock access to your web server. Another advantage comes from the fact that once a complete web presence solution, design and hosting, is offered by the studio to a customer, there is a higher chance for having that customer become a regular.

The benefits of a good dedicated web hosting solution for businesses translate into sales growth, better customer relationship, improved company image, reduced cost compared with in-house web hosting solution, and the list could go on. A dedicated web server means that you can run a better business and better business reads profit.

Is Your Website Secure On A Shared Server? Part 1

Posted by admin in Best Web Hosting

Security aspects of a shared web hosting server have always on the forefront. And, with almost 90% of websites being hosted on shared servers, the security considerations are not uncalled for.

Also know as virtual hosting, shared hosting has been the favorite of small and medium size enterprises. Owing to the fact that shared web hosting works out to be cheaper than hosting on dedicated servers. Thats because a website shares a server with other websites in a virtual environment. But, does that make it vulnerable to hacking? Thats the million dollar question. To understand the security aspects of hosting on shared servers, we will have to first understand the different modes of shared hosting.

Types of shared hosting

  • Domain based shared hosting:

It works on the Virtual Private Server (VPS) technology and provides each website with a unique URL, even though they are hosted on a single server. The VPS technology achieves by creating effective partitions in the server and gets them to act as individual servers.

  • Name based shared hosting:

In name based shared hosting, a websites name appears as a subset of the service providers name. Example of such service providers are geocities, blogspot etc.

  • Directory based shared hosting:

With respect to directory based shared hosting, the customers website will be mentioned as a directory in the host domain name. The most important point that comes through with shared hosting is the relative lack of a dedicated IP address. Thats because most of the web security apparatus are applicable on the IP address level. Thats the reason why, dedicated severs are capable of providing a more secure environment; as they guarantee a unique IP address.

The other blockade with shared server security is the relative difficulty encountered in implementing SSL certificates.

Living in Massachusetts Towns and Cities - Abington, Massachusetts

Posted by admin in Move House

Abington is a small community of approximately 13,000 people. The town is located 12 miles south of Boston and was first settled by European settlers in 1668.

During the nineteenth and early twentieth century, the manufacture of boots and shoes was its primary industry. Nearly half of the footwear provided for the Union Army during the Civil War came out of Abington factories. The town is also noted for having a working dairy farm as of 1986. Today, the towns roots in manufacturing and agriculture have given way to a primarily residential community with several small and medium size businesses flourishing within the boundaries of a quiet town.

There are several active civic organizations. Annual celebrations include a St. Patricks Day parade, and a 4th of July celebration.

Abington has a fine school system and full time fire and police departments. Other town facilities include:

A water department
A sewer department
A public library
Municipal golf course

School system:

The Abington Early Childhood Center is located near the center of town and serves students from pre-kindergarten through second grade. There are three elementary schools; Center Elementary near the old town center, North Elementary in North Abington, and Woodsdale Elementary near the Ames Nowell State Forest. These schools serve students from third through sixth grades. The Charles M. Frolio Junior High School is located near the center of town, and serves seventh and eighth grade students. Things to consider before changing hosting

Posted by admin in Best Web Hosting

You might have started out with a particular web hosting service provider and things were working fine for sometime. But, now your website has become a lot more popular that it is receiving a large number of visitors per minute, to an extent that the present server in which the web pages are hosted is not able to withstand the burgeoning traffic. Such a chance is higher, if you have hosted your website for free. When the current host is not able to meet the growing demands of bandwidth and storage, it is time to look for a more robust service provider. But, how to find one who exactly meets the requirements of your website, from the thousands of web hosting service providers available in the country and abroad?

Well, there are no hard and fast rules to it, but with the application of some simple thought and common sense, you could discern the ideal web hosting service provider from a lesser one. The following steps would help you to do so.

First, see if the web hosting service provider offers the required bandwidth and enough storage for all the required files associated with your website. This is very crucial, especially if your website has a higher prospect to grow further in the coming months or so. It is not that easy a job to change web hosts often.

Secondly, check out if the web host server is running in Windows or UNIX. When you host your website in the new server, if the files end up not compatible with the hosting software, then there is no point in the whole exercise. For example, if your webpage has Microsoft FrontPage extensions, it is of no use if the web hosting server does not offer Microsoft FrontPage compatibility. Remember, adaptability is of prime importance when it comes to efficient web hosting.

In an ideal scenario, a person browsing the website must not get an inkling that something has changed in the background. That is, the website, even after having hosted to a new server, must be able to provide the same level of features it used to offer earlier. In order to ensure that, while changing the web hosting service provider, make sure that the new one also offers the same features that the old host had been offering (such as auto responders and mail forwarding).

Avoid shared servers as much as possible. Even if you go for a shared server, checkout to see that it does not have any adult sites hosted in it. In busy hours, it could cause other websites to slow down considerably.

Finally, checkout various forums and review websites of existing users and see their opinion on the new web hosting service provider. Such resources provide a near perfect customer perception about the given service providers.

Once you have selected a web hosting service provider and hosted the website, dont detach yourself from the old host in one go. It is important to backup your website from the old host by a redirecting page to the new server for the first 48 hours at least. This design will ensure that the netizens will be able to view your new website even if its IP address has not propagated yet. It takes about two days for a website to get listed in most of the domain servers in the web.

How to Make Sure Your Insomnia Herbal Remedy is Safe

Posted by admin in Sleep Snoring

Many herbs can be effectively and inexpensively used to ease the nerves and promote relaxation and sleep. Some people may not know though that the use of some herbs can result in side effects or that some herbs are less effective and safe than others. Here are some useful tips to ensure that you are using a safe insomnia herbal remedy.

Conduct Your Own Research

The internet, health practitioners and local support groups are perfect resources for your search for a safe insomnia herbal remedy. Take note of popular herbs used for insomnia herbal remedy products and research for the answer to specific questions like:

How exactly can this insomnia herbal remedy promote sleep and relaxation?
What are it effects on vital body functions?

Are there people using the herb who have experienced positive results?
What do studies and experts say about this popular insomnia herbal remedy?
Are there warnings in the internet against this insomnia herbal remedy? Have there been controversial cases linked to the herb?
Does this herb have the least negative side effects?

Look for a Reputable Brand

Aside from getting yourself personally informed, you should also consider buying an insomnia herbal remedy from a reputable company who has been in the business for some time. A reputable insomnia herbal remedy brand will be able to provide you with valuable information about the remedy. They will not just tell you that their product can provide relief from insomnia. You can simply cross check the information provided by looking for unbiased medical journals or studies in the internet. Dont Experiment with Herbs

Some sources may provide you with home remedies for insomnia. Some of these remedies may actually be safe to use and may even work. Your home remedy herbal instructions however should contain specific amount instructions. Not all herbs can be safely used in any experimental amount. Even herbs taken as instructed may still cause side effects. Hops, chamomile and lavender for example are herbs for insomnia that can cause allergic reactions in some individuals.

Use Your Common Sense

Because herbs have not been extensively studied, common sense would tell us not to use herbs under specific conditions unless cleared by a physician for safe use. Pregnant women, breastfeeding women, young children, people taking strong medications, people with allergies and people with serious ailments should refrain from taking any insomnia herbal remedy. An insomnia herbal remedys properties could have negative side effects in people with special conditions.

Ask Your Doctors Opinion

If you are already using a remedy or have switched from one remedy to another and you are still not experiencing any positive effects or have a worse condition, then you should immediately see your doctor. You could already be suffering from chronic insomnia that could lead to a more serious condition. You could also be suffering from a serious underlying condition that could be causing your insomnia.

Cacao Beans - Conching

Posted by admin in Organic Chocolate

Cacao beans are the most important ingredient in finished fine chocolates. Without a high quality bean, the process is for naught. Staring with the bean and working through all the steps to transform it from seed to chocolate requires precision. Failure along the way means the difference between mediocre confections and chocolate perfection.

During the start of the chocolate making process, beans are treated somewhat like coffee. Theyre harvested, fermented and then roasted. For excellent chocolates, this part of the making process is vital, but the making of chocolate doesnt truly get interesting until the roasting is complete.

After roasting, the making process continues with grinding. The beans of the cacao must be basically shelled and then ground before they can be used in most chocolate recipes. During the grinding stage, the beans give off a liquid. Called cacao liquor, this liquid can be turned into three different products all valuable to makers of fine chocolate. The cacao can also be processed into cacao butter or cacao powder, but this is generally done with lower quality beans. It can also be turned into chocolate.

To actually make chocolate from the chocolate liquor, fine crafters add sugar. The mixture is ground again, generally, to get rid of any grainy taste. Its then conched. This means the chocolate in its liquid form is mixed at a temperature of about 180 degrees Fahrenheit. It is during conching that chocolate begins to gain its smooth, finished taste. Fine end product chocolates can be conched for an hour to a full day or more, depending on the makers individual preference.

With conching done, the finished chocolate can be further processed into milk chocolate, dark chocolate, ganache and other products. From bean to conching, each step in the making process is important, any wavering can harm the quality of the finished chocolate.

Conching itself is vital and often sets one chocolate makers work apart from anothers. From bean to chocolate base, the art of making chocolate is more complex than many likely suspect.
